A big loss – Luciano Pavarotti

Growing up if you asked my friends what type of music I listened to, friends would say it would have to be fast, hard and loud with the occasional sprinkling relaxation. I was really into Punk music, some techno, and 80s glam rock – I know, I was a big lamo.

What my friends didn’t know (and for the most part my parents) is that I was a big time closet Pavarotti and Mormon Tabernacle Choir fan and still am to this day. I tend to never miss a Sunday morning broadcast and my Dad was and still is notorious for blasting three tenors concerts throughout the house or watch the videos and shake the house and it would give me chills. Something about deep, powerful voices and wonderful music combined into one would truly touch me and shake me.
Lucianno PavarottiYesterday, Luciano Pavarotti died and I found myself sad. He was such an interesting, truly talented person. His singing brought people together and melded cultures whether friend or foe together. He will be truly missed by many around the world. The sad part is that I always wanted to send my Dad to a concert of his, that was my goal, I know that a Pavarotti concert in a distant city was something that he would never spend money on himself (he is notoriously frugal) but I would be willing to do it to thank him for everything he has done for me because I know he would truly appreciate and now that is lost.

Pavarotti was a true talent.
