HOW VIDEO INTERVIEWING WORKS

Improve your hiring process in three steps:

  1. Log in to your HireVue account, and enter your job specific interview questions and candidate information
  2. HireVue ships your candidates a webcam along with an access code (Alternatively, On-site Video Interviews are conducted at your company's location)
  3. Your candidates enter the access code on www.hirevue.com and take your video interview using the provided webcam

HireVue supports several types of questions to give you the flexibility you need in evaluating a candidate. Supported question types include:

  1. Video Questions - Your question appears on the candidate's screen for 30 seconds, then the candidate has up to two minutes to answer the question. When the candidate finishes his or her response, your next question appears.
  2. Essay Questions - Helps you assess communication and critical thinking skills. You can dictate the length of the response.
  3. Short Answer - Questions requiring either a short written response or a calculated answer, useful for evaluating technical knowledge.
  4. True or False / Multiple Choice / Multiple Answer - Flexible questions that allow you to gather more about your candidate that can be objectively compared to other candidates.

Since each HireVue Video Interview is job specific, each candidate for any single position will receive the same question set.

Evaluating Candidates

Candidates receive a webcam within 48 hours and can take their interview anytime. As soon as the HireVue Video Interview is recorded, it is available for you and your designated colleagues to view and evaluate through HireVue's secure site. Viewing options include:

  • Click a candidate's picture to begin playing his or her interview
  • Skip to any interview question by clicking the question number
  • Sequentially compare all candidates' responses to any single question
  • Enter ratings and comments for each candidate that can be shared with other hiring managers
  • View related documents for each candidate such as a resume, standardized test, or writing sample.
