How HireVue Empowers Recruiters

You are a one-of-a-kind individual. So why is it that so many of us get nervous when telling a prospective employer all about how great we are? In a digital interview, it’s important to put your best foot forward and effectively describe who you are and what you have to offer a successful organization.  Your value will be communicated through your poise, confidence, and clarity. It's more important than ever to be able to distinguish yourself from the pack and sell yourself as a valuable employee; here are tips on how to prepare like a pro for your next digital interview.

1. Know Your Skills

Determine the top 5 skills your employer is looking for beforehand – when they ask you about your skills you don’t want to hesitate. Being able to quickly and effectively communicate what you offer is key. You want to convey that you know what to do when it really counts for your potential new employer.

2. Don't Rant

Be direct when asked a direct question – taking the long road to get to a clear answer can result in your losing the interviewer's attention. Get to the meat first, then elaborate your response. Hint: Practice answers to common questions in advance, so you're comfortable delivering a clear, concise response.

3. Control Your Environment

Make sure your computer equipment (camera, microphones, etc.) are working well so you don’t have a glitch during the interview. Wear appropriate clothing for the job you're interviewing for and make sure the room you're in is well-lit and free from other noises and outside distractions.  You want to ensure that the employer is focused on you, and not your dancing cousins, cat, or dog in the background.

4. Be Yourself!

Along with job skill and training, hiring managers are also always looking for someone that will fit well with the company culture.  Make sure your personality shows – that can be the make or break for a company looking for the right fit.  If the company isn’t a fit culturally, you'll probably be happier somewhere else so never sacrifice showing who you are, every time.
