It's easier than ever to mess up your chances of getting hired-- technology has made our lives increasingly transparent to prospective employers, especially now that most employers are utilizing some kind of digital interviewing tool. But what can you do to increase your chances of being hired? Here are six tips for showing good grace, great manners, and attention to detail that will blow interviewers away.

1. Proofread job-hunting materials. Even the best writers make mistakes, which is why it's important to proofread your cover letter and resume if it’s required; even better, get a second pair of eyes on it. 61 percent of employers said they’d automatically dismiss from consideration a resumé with typos, including improper word usages (their, they're, there) and proper grammar.

2. Keep your reputation clean. The first thing an employer will do before or after reviewing your digital interview is look for you online. It's a good idea to control this as much as possible-- flesh out your LinkedIn profile, establish yourself on the Google+ social network, and build a following on Twitter. Bonus points to people who write reviews of work-related books on sites like Amazon. And, as with step 1, proofread, proofread, proofread.

3. Have a crisp, compelling statement of what your job objectives are. The more confident and clear you are with this, the likelier others can and will help you.

4. Keep your chin up. It’s a tough economy, and it's very hard for the long-term unemployed to find jobs. Even if this has you down, don't express any self-pity when interviewing or networking. If you need to vent, do so to your friends-- try to keep yourself positive during interviews. Show people that you can stay upbeat even in hard times.

5. Prepare for the questions you're likely to be asked. This shows recruiters that you're enthusiastic and have done their homework. Read up on the employer, and make sure you know the industry.

6. Always thank people for their time, whether you're interviewing or networking. Make it a point to thank everyone who takes the time to speak with you-- your good manners will be appreciated.
