Over the past few years, I've come across a fair number of social media tools which have increased my productivity and efficiency on Twitter or simply wasted my time and money. Below you can find a detailed breakdown of each tool that I highly recommend for social selling: listen, manage, engage, and grow a Twitter following.

Here's the detailed breakdown:

1. Buffer

Buffer is an epic social media management tool that makes it easy schedule, analyze, and manage your twitter accounts. My favorite feature is Buffer's Google chrome extension which makes it super easy to share any page you're reading online. Their iOS and Android apps are clean and simple to use as well.

2. Insightpool

These guys are the leaders in Twitter automation in both the B2B and B2C industry hands down. If you really want to see an actual social ROI from your Twitter efforts, Insightpool is THE tool for you. Their sick "Social Drip Marketing" technology enables you to create a Twitter drip campaigns to a tailored audience you provide or based on a specific search criteria that you specify.

3. IFTTT (If This Then That)

"Put the internet to work for you." IFTTT, which is pronounced like "gift" without the "g", is a service that lets you create basic building blocks with over 166 channels including Twitter. In other words, you can automate a lot of daily twitter tasks that take up a lot of your time. For example, you can create a "recipe" that will create and post a tweet whenever a blog of your choice publishes a new blog post. The possibilities are endless.

4. Twitonomy

What if you could know when, who, how, and what your competitor or candidate is saying and doing on Twitter 24/7? Yah, it sounds creepy, but that's what Twitonomy can do for you in a non-creepy way if you're smart about it. Besides analyzing any user on Twitter, you can get analytics on keywords, mentions, hashtags and URLs. This tool comes in handy when you're at a conference and you would like to listen and engage with other attendees who are using the event's hashtag.

5. Riffle By CrowdRiff

I stumbled upon Riffle about six months ago, it has become my favorite Google Chrome extension for Twitter. Riffle By CrowdRiff allows you to build instant rapport with anyone on Twitter by getting a snapshot of a user's tweet activity, tweet source, and engagements to name a few. With this knowledge you can make interactions more personal and more meaningful.

6. ManageFlitter

ManageFlitter is the best tool to grow your follower count and engage with your audience on Twitter. A few of their features include PowerPost, analytics, mass unfollow, mass follow, and search. It's crazy to see that this tool is trusted by over 2,768,495 users.

7. Hashtracking

If you'd like to have historical and real-time insights for a specific hashtag, then Hashtracking is the tool for you. Not only do they provide you with epic hashtag intelligence, but you can visualize the data that is captured which makes it easy to understand and share with other team members.

8. SocialBro

SocialBro is as close as you'll get to a tool that "does it all" on Twitter. Ranging from Twitter DM campaigns to finding the best time to tweet, SocialBro's comprehensive marketing platform for Twitter is packed with features to analyze, engage, and monetize your Twitter audience.

9. TweetDeck

TweedDeck is a must-have for every social media manager. This simple, but powerful tool, is essential for real-time tracking Twitter mentions, retweets, favorites, following, followers, keywords and URLs. My top two TweetDeck features are the multiple live column streaming and multiple account management.

10. Buzzsumo

Looking for good relevant content to share with your Twitter audience can be time consuming and hard to do. This is where Buzzsumo comes into play. Their content marketing intelligence platform gives you insights of what content is working, and the influencers amplifying it. For example, Buzzsumo will allow you to find, share, and cue up the top 30 articles related to social selling that have been posted over the past week, month, or year.


To wrap up, all of these social media tools have completely changed the way I listen, engage, and follow users on Twitter.
