IKEA is the world’s largest furniture retailer, with a turnover of more than €45 billion and employing more than 200,000 people globally. They recognised that talent was becoming increasingly scarce and that AI is changing the hiring process, which can then become quite transactional in a fast-paced retail sector.
With IKEA being such a values-based organisation with a strong company culture, they sought a solution that would utilise technology for speed and efficiency while maintaining meaningful, values-driven conversations and connections with candidates. Recruiting based on values at IKEA was previously resource-intensive, requiring a lot of time to assess values and candidates.
IKEA believes that hiring based on values leads to trust, which opens up communication. This, in turn, increases engagement because people can be themselves as their values align with the company culture, leading to higher retention and growth – both for the person and the organisation.
IKEA was looking for an automated, scientific, fair, and easily accessible solution that would provide a good candidate experience – but recruiters and hiring managers still remain the decision-makers in the process. The automated solution would then provide them with the time and space to spend more time with candidates who have the highest values fit.
IKEA selected Hirevue’s Virtual Job Tryout for all of their franchises. It was critical that Hirevue understood the sensitivity of IKEA’s culture, provided a solid product, and could scale. Results from implementing Hirevue include a 49% increase in recruiter efficiency, and 96% of candidates reported a very positive experience, finding it an engaging method and learning a lot about IKEA’s culture.
